Pedro is a Cuban native raised in Miami, and is a classically trained musician turned dancer. His admiration for dancing developed during his time in college when he accidentally joined his colleges latin dance team JHU’s ¡Baila!. From then his passion for dancing flourished and took on a variety of leadership roles including teaching and choreographing for the team.

This lead him to become proficient in a diverse number of styles of latin dances which include Salsa On1, Mambo (Salsa On2), Rueda de Casino (Cuban Salsa) and Bachata to name a few. His style heavily draws upon the roots of salsa Afro-Cuban, from which he incorporates an array of different techniques and concepts.

Drawing inspiration from a vast library of Folkloric Cuban dances such as Cha Cha Cha, Cuban Rumba, Pilón, Son and Yoruba Dances. Drawing upon his musical, Pedro loves to emphasize musically and how to better connect with the music beyond the basic counts.

Emphasizing body movement and isolation as a mechanism to better interpret and relate to the music, leading to a better connection when dancing with a partner. An instructor who loves to break down and demystify the complex rhythms that make up the plethora of Latin Music. For more information and to book Pedro, please contact us at dance@salsawithsilvia.com or call (202) 643 1870.
