What Students & Clients Say?

Hi, I would like to say that overall my experience at SWS, was absolutely great. From the moment you enter people are really helpful and give you guidance on when or what level you should start. I took the absolute beginner class, and it was just the best, the instructor (Joffre) was great, very patient and ready to help. His class was really fun, which made the whole experience a great way to start for me. After that I just kept taking classes with almost all the instructors. Kelly, Mario, David, Camille each of them had their unique way to teach, very professional and very helpful. I wish they had more advanced classes but I totally recommend this studio if you are new to the salsa and bachata dancing scene and want a good first experience.

I am very lucky that one of my best friends is a professional dance instructor who owns a dance studio, which offers private lessons to couples. She was there to open my eyes...

I want to take the time to thank you and the many other instructors who opened the doors to their dance class. I loved to reconnect to one of my passions, dance, and most importantly, to meet wonderful people. I can’t thank you enough. Not only, did your participation and inclusiveness help me achieve an A for the ethnography study, it lifted my spirits during a very difficult time for me of loss and sadness. Hope my presence was as uplifting as the dance experience was for me.

We just finished our final session with David and I just wanted to tell you personally how absolutely thrilled we are. David was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was very warm, enthusiastic, and encouraging, put together some amazing moves for us, and was super adaptive with what we loved or did not feel comfortable with. I leave feeling so completely satisfied and know this will be a first dance for the ages. We couldn’t be in a better place heading into our wedding!!

I have taken classes with David, Jason and Natalie and I absolutely love all of their classes. I took the absolute beginner class with David, and thought he made the steps very easy to follow and understand. Every class he always reviewed what we had seen before, and gave us individual feedback on what we could improve. I took some on-going beginner salsa classes with Jason and really liked his focus on technique. I took beginner two classes with Natalie, and I think she did an excellent job on building on previous moves — she taught us new things without making us feel overwhelmed. I also just want to add that Salsa with Silvia is my favorite place to take dance classes in D.C. The price is accessible, and the classes are great. I like the 4 week series schedule because it gives me a sense that I am making steady progress, and also because it is easy to commit to 4 week of classes (as opposed to dance studios that you have to sign up for a specific dates without a lot of flexibility).”

Dear Silvia, I am delighted that you have answered my comment. I live in Zagreb, Croatia, salsa dancing and music is my preoccupation for about 4 months. Since I want to move faster than my salsa dance colleagues I sometimes copying moves from YouTube. Your free video lessons are very helpful and I must say that they are some of the best on the web. I hope your dreams will come true. And Silvia… you’re awesome.

Well, Sylvia. I started about 4 month ago. And I would say: We reached intermediate level. Saying this, I have to thank you, that you brought joy, sweat and laughter to cold Cologne, all acros the atlantic ocean. I am practising with my colleague, both of us being psychiatric nurses (male and female though) on a so called closed ward. Maybe one day we can teach some of our patients a few easy patterns… lol That would really brighten up our work and the spirit of our clients. Thanks so much…

I was looking for affordable salsa classes in DC and I definitely found them. My husband and I have taken the Beginners Salsa 7-week series and now are taking the Bachata and Merengue 7-week series. Both have been fantastic! The instructors are fun, funny, and armed with plenty of patience!! They have also given us styling tips to make us look good while we dance. We have learned so much in both Salsa and Bachata. We recently attended a wedding where 80% of the music was Salsa/Bachata/Merengue and we were able to impress everyone there with our moves. All thanks to the Salsa with Silvia instructors.

Thank you for the great lesson! I had a good chunk of fun and got some decent confidence heading into the weekend.

I must say, Joffre is a wonderful instructor. I have been dancing salsa on and off for a while, and though I was familiar with the basic steps and turns, I could not say I was much better than a beginner. After just 3 or 4 classes, I could see the difference in my dancing, my turns were smoother, I could combine different patterns. It definitely is worth the money. Apart from just the steps, Joffre also teaches different ways to style it, so you literally get two packages for the price of one.You do not have to take a separate class on styling. If you have trouble with any step, he takes time to break it down for you. The class is small, usually about 8 – 12 people and so it easy to get that communal feeling where everyone knows everyone and its easy to plan a salsa club outing with the students.

Well done and thank you for supporting our troops with such an amazing social and cultural way of displaying dancing talent. I’m a Soldier myself, married to another service member and an amazing woman (high school sweetheart). We do dance Salsa, kind of an advance mode but not as good and technical as you. I’ve just arrived from another deployment ans months before my return, I stumbled with your youtube videos and I was amazed with your simple and precise way of explaining every step of the particular salsa move you were teaching. Well, I purchased your DVD and is amazing. Thank you for the support to us and good luck with your career.

Silvia, I am so appreciative of your videos! I really want to learn salsa more, but with two kids in college, we can’t afford lessons! We plan to go through your series, so you are a godsend. Thank you for your hard work!

Dear Silvia, I wanted to say thanks very much for your videos, which are all excellent! I am quite new to salsa. I didn’t think I’d like it as I mainly do athletics and had never tried dance. I’m a young professor and started salsa last summer as we have a “Dancing with the Professors” competition in my university which is like “Dancing with the Stars”. I learned a lot of moves from your videos, many of which I put into my routine, and won the competition. More importantly than winning, I grew to love salsa which I never thought I would. I have persuaded many friends to try it and refer them to your videos. Keep up the good work! Regards, Alex
