Sophie/ Salsa Instructor

Salsa Instructor Sofie

Sofie is a passionate salsa instructor in the Washington, DC and Maryland area who brings a diverse dance background and a supportive teaching style to every class. She began training at age 11 in hip hop, jazz, ballet, and contemporary, and later competed nationally with The Company at C-Unit Studio throughout high school, refining her technique and stage presence at competitions across the country.

After high school, Sofie expanded her dance training into ballroom, studying and competing in cha cha, rumba, samba, and jive. Her love for Latin dance began while studying abroad in Madrid, Spain, where she started training in salsa and bachata. Since then, she has continued developing as both a performer and salsa instructor, training extensively in these styles. She was an active member of the University of Maryland’s Latin Dance Club, Pa’Lante, and is currently part of Muevete, the worldwide virtual salsa team led by Michelle Morales, performing at events across the country.

Beyond performing, Sofie is deeply passionate about teaching and inspiring the next generation of dancers. She began teaching through a high school child development program where she led preschool classes, and later worked in a preschool classroom at KidsCo Jr., supporting children ages 2–5. As a salsa instructor, she creates a welcoming and encouraging environment where students of all ages can build confidence, improve technique, and develop a lifelong love of dance.
