Saturday. September 17, 2016, Salsa With Silvia is hosting an event featuring some of the most known names on the DMV salsa scene. We hope you join TO PARTY WITH THE BEST ON THE SCENE. Stuck On Salsa and the Capital Congress are doing the DMV Homecoming Jam with dancing, partying and general foolishness to celebrate DJ Renzo, Julissa Cruz, Ronald Rios and Shaka coming to roost in DC. Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, and Zouk is all welcome as we throw down in the style that defines the DMV!


TIME:  Workshop starts at 9pm (This is included in entry ticket so take advantage!) PARTY STARTS AT 10PM  TO 2AM.

Shaka Brown is one of the most known dancers, performers, instructors and promoters on the DMV salsa scene.

Here are a the bios of a few of the salsa stars of the event:

Shaka Brown is a popular salsa performer and instructor. He was born in Washington DC and has risen to become one of the premiere salsa talents in the world. He hosts and promotes the annual Capital City Salsa Congress which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2014. He has taught salsa in over 20 countries and is also co-founder of the ClaveKazi dance studio in D.C. He is named after a Zulu warrior and leader, Shaka Zulu. Fortunately for the dance world, Shaka Brown will not kill with a spear through the chest, but may make your heart skip a beat with a smooth as butter salsa shine. He lists travelling and seeing new places as his biggest reward from dancing. Shaka is fluent in three languages; English, Spanish and Portuguese. (bio credit:

DJ Renzo is one of the most respected salsa DJs in the DMV area.

DJ Renzo has shared his passion for salsa music throughout the contiguous United States, Asia and Europe. With a distinct advantage of having been a dancer first and DJ second he prides himself on being a “dancer’s DJ.” Renzo taps into this knowledge of appropriate songs to create the ideal dancing environment for whatever crowd is in front of him. Renzo also takes immense pride in being known as a DJ who can play for any crowd. Renzo is the house DJ at several spots in the DC metropolitan area and is often invited to play at congresses, parties, festivals and extravaganzas throughout the world to include: Capital Congress (DC) (4), Chicago International Salsa Congress (2), Cobo Brothers NC Salsa Festival (3), Extreme Japan, Connecticut Salsa Festival (3) (2011 Battle of the DJs winner), Mambo Dinamico 8 Year Anniversary, Endless Summer Soiree (Miami), Philly Salsa Fest, Mambo Fateegz Social, Pura Vintage, DC Bachata Congress (2), First Annual Windy City Stepper’s/Salsa Congress, Masacote Black & White Ball and several Stuck On Salsa Parties. Julissa Cruz

Julissa Cruz, Native from Puerto Rico,  is no stranger to rhythm. With a 15 year educational background that includes Salsa/Mambo, Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Tap, and Musical Theatre; she is easily recognized as one of the most versatile performers/ choreographers in Latin Dance. She served as the director of the Salsa Heat Professional Dance Company of Orlando FL for 4 years, and has worked with world renowned choreographers such as Troy Anthony, , and Jamie Josephson. From Congresses to workshops to performing with recording artists Charlie Cruz and Tito Nieves, Julissa has been seen on various stages stretching from LA to Paris. She is currently the head choreographer of the first ever Salsa inspired theatrical production “Migue”, scheduled to show in 2009.  resides in Richmond, VA where she strives to bring more members into our salsa community.
