JOSE

Salsa Instructor

Born in Miami to Dominican parents, Jose’s upbringings have always been influenced by folk and modern dances emanating from the Caribbean islands’ sounds of Salsa, Son, Danzon, Mambo, Merengue, Perico Ripiao, and Bachata. His avocation however really began with the Corazon Dancers of Tallahassee, FL in 2009. With the Corazon Dancers of Tallahassee Jose served different roles as President and Dance Rehearsal Director, managing weekly classes, socials, and festivals focused on spreading the love for Salsa On1 and ChaCha throughout the community. In 2013, Jose relocated to the DMV area and has continued to serve the Salsa and Bachata dance community. He has taught Salsa both On1 and On2 along with Traditional Bachata at various venues to include The Salsa Room in Arlington, Clubs of Quantico, and Grand Central in DC. From teaching to performing across cities like Miami, Los Angeles, and DC, Jose can be best described as a well-rounded dancer with a unique style that expresses an individual expression to music while exemplifying the importance of basics. Jose’s true dance aspirations are focused around being the catalyst that ignites students love for dance… porque “todo comenzo bailando” – Frankie Ruiz
